Watertown junior Kourtney Kennedy scored two goals in the win over Wilmington Monday moved the Raiders into a tie for the longest unbeaten streak in U.S. history.
Winning has become a tradition for the Watertown field hockey team, so much so that the Raiders are now tied for the longest unbeaten streak in American high school history.
Monday evening, Watertown beat Wilmington 5-0 and improved to 15-0 on the season. The win also moved the unbeaten streak to 153, which ties the record set by Eastern High School of Voorhees, N.J from 1999-2005.
Wilmington did not just lie down for the Raiders. They kept Watertown off the board for the first 21 minutes, before senior Christa Knell scored what would be the game winner and streak tier, according to the Boston Globe report.
Senior Michaela Antonellis and junior Kourtney Kennedy each scored twice in the win.
The Raiders look to set the new record on Wednesday afternoon against Melrose at 3:45 p.m. at Victory Field.
