Arrests
June 1, 1:35 a.m.: An officer checking speeds by radar on Pleasant Street spotted a vehicle heading westbound going over 50 mph. When the officer pulled out to follow the vehicle the driver went through a red light near Repton Circle. The officer put on the emergency lights and the other driver turned of his taillights and accelerated away toward Waltham. The driver attempted to turn right onto Seyon Street in Waltham and two wheels went up on the curb and then came to a stop. Waltham Police also responded and assisted. The officer detected signs of impairment on the driver, who failed field sobriety tests. The 22-year-old Waltham man was arrested on charges of negligent driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, marked lanes violation, two counts of failing to stop, motor vehicle lights violation, failing to stop for police, and speeding.
June 1, 11:34 a.m.: An officer spotted a man known to be wanted on arrest warrants on Main Street. The 51-year-old Watertown man was arrested on eight warrants: one from Newton District Court for uttering a false document, from Quincy District Court for larceny over $250 from an elder or disabled person, from Malden District Court for larceny over $1,200 by false pretenses, two from South Boston District Court for uttering false checks, from Lowell District Court for forgery and larceny over $1,200, from Lowell District Court for three counts of receiving stolen property and two counts of forgery by check, and from Waltham District Court for possession of a Class B drug.
June 1, 10:45 p.m.: Police were called to Howe Street for people parked and drinking alcohol in a vehicle. When officers spoke to the two people in the vehicle they found that the passenger had two outstanding warrant. The 35-year-old Watertown man was arrested on two warrants from Woburn District Court, one for negligent driving and one for failure to attend jury duty.
June 2, 10:54 p.m.: An officer driving through the Municipal Parking Lot behind CVS in Watertown Square spotted a woman in a vehicle parked behind Gray’s Laundry who did not appear to be moving. The officer circled around and stopped to check on the woman’s wellbeing. As the officer approached, the woman looked at officer and made a movement that concerned the officer. The officer looked in the vehicle and spotted a small baggie with an off-white powdery substance. The woman confirmed the substance was heroin. While searching the vehicle the officer found other small bags with heroin, pills, as well as drug paraphernalia and other items that could be used for drug distribution. In total, 4.2 grams of heroin was seized. The 49-year-old Watertown woman was arrested on charges of possession with intent to distribute a Class A drug and possession with a intent to distribute a Class B drug.
Incidents
May 28, 11:46 a.m.: Police received a call from a Grandview Avenue resident who was sleeping on the couch at about 8 a.m. and woke up to see an unknown woman in his living room. He asked what she was doing there, and she apologized and said she was supposed to be in the upstairs apartment of the two-family home. The man described the suspect as a white female, 30-40 years old, with blond hair. While investigating, police went upstairs to speak with the resident. He said he saw a woman fitting the description of the suspect walking through his kitchen and saw her walking out of his home with a black tool bag. The bag was left just outside the home with the tools missing. The same day, an off-duty Watertown Police officer saw a woman walking through the neighborhood carrying two white milk crates with sporting equipment inside. The officer recognized the woman from previous incidents. On Monday, while reviewing the weekend’s cases, the officer realized the woman may have been connected to the break in. Police contacted the resident of the upstairs unit to ask if he had white milk crates with sporting goods inside. The man said he had some in his attic. Police asked him to check if they were there and he confirmed they were missing. Police got a warrant for a 40-year-old homeless woman from Watertown for two counts of breaking and entering for a misdemeanor and two counts of larceny under $1,200. She was arrested later that week, but none of the property was recovered.
May 29, 3:06 p.m.: A woman was driving a 2008 Honda Accord when the engine suddenly stopped. She pulled over and smoke started coming from under the hood. The Fire Department responded and put out the fire. There were no injuries.
May 30, 11:25 a.m.: A Cypress Street resident reported a scam to Police. The woman contacted a person on Craigslist about renting a home on the Cape. She sent a money order for $3,080 to an address in Brooklyn, N.Y. Soon afterward she became suspicious and contacted the owner of the property in Falmouth, who said that he was not renting his home.
May 30, 12 p.m.: A Maple Street resident told police his American Express card had been stolen and purchases had been made with it. A total of $1,443.52 was charged at The Gap Outlet and Marshall’s in the Arsenal Mall, at Friendly’s and at an MBTA Orange Line station. Police are investigating.
May 31, 12:30 p.m.: A crew doing work at Strawberry Childcare on Watertown Street noticed a woman walk over with a stroller, leave the empty one and grab one that belonged to the daycare. The workers tracked her down and stopped her. Police summonsed the 35-year-old woman from Dorchester for larceny under $1,200.
June 2, 11 a.m.: A Whites Avenue resident reported two fraudulent charges on a credit card made on May 26. One for $168.94 at the Stop & Shop on Watertown Street and one at Target for $191.80 in gift cards. The suspect is described as a black male with short braided hair wearing gray pants and a white T-shirt.
June 3, 7:06 p.m.: An employee at Stop & Shop on Pleasant Street observed a woman fill two bags with groceries and did not stop at the checkout area before leaving. The person was stopped by an employee, and $203.44 in groceries was recovered. The 57-year-old woman from Malden was summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting.
