The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrest
April 30, 4:02 p.m.: Police spotted a vehicle cross over the center line on Arsenal Street. The officer pulled the vehicle over and found the driver had an active warrant. The 27-year-old Jamaica Plain man was arrested on the warrant from Dorchester District Court for failure to stop for police, reckless driving, and a crosswalk violation. He was also cited for marked lanes violation.
May 2, 7:49 a.m.: A makeshift camp site was discovered in a parking lot on the 800 block of Mt. Auburn Street. An officer found a blue tarp with someone sleeping underneath. Police woke up the woman under the tarp, who said she was homeless. Officers discovered the woman had two active warrants. The 44-year-old Everett woman was arrested on the warrants: one from Roxbury District Court for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one from Boston District Court for failure to appear in court on a charge of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
May 6, 10:48 p.m.: A dark-colored sedan was spotted traveling through Watertown Square without its headlights after dark. The officer also saw that the front driver side tire was completely flat. When the vehicle was pulled over, the officer noticed an overwhelming odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath, and spotted an empty beer bottle and an empty nip. The man admitted to drinking alcohol before driving, and he did not have a driver’s license. Field sobriety tests were performed and the officer arrested the 20-year-old Waltham man for driving under the influence of alcohol, unlicensed driving, and he was cited for driving without headlights.
Incidents
April 30, 4:30 p.m.: While helping a customer make a key with a remote unlock button, an employee of Finest Keys Kiosk at the Watertown Mall went into the parking lot with two computers. One was hooked up to the vehicle and other other was left outside in a tool box. The employee and the customer sat in the vehicle and closed the door. When they came out 15 minutes later they discovered someone had taken the tool box and the computer inside. It is worth $400.
May 1, 11:30 a.m. to May 2, 3 a.m.: A string of car break ins occurred in Watertown, mostly in the neighborhood near the Charles River off North Beacon Street. Seven vehicles were broken into on Pequosette Street, three on Paul Street, two on Charles River Road, one on Beechwood Avenue and one on Fayette Street. Police obtained video from home security systems and spotted a man who appeared to have committed the break ins. All the vehicles were left unlocked and mostly loose change was taken. Also, a men’s wallet containing $10 was taken which.
May 3, 6:35 p.m.: The glass door at Bus Stop Variety on Main Street was damaged by an unknown object. The object left a spider crack in the door. It appeared that someone threw something a it overnight. The damage will cost $500 to repair.
May 4, 4 p.m.: A man who wanted to get a passport at the Post Office on Main Street got angry when when he was told passports cannot be processed after 3 p.m. He began yelling at people in the Post Office, including at a female customer. Police were called but could not locate the man.
May 5, 9:55 a.m.: A copper downspout was taken from the Mt. Auburn Village Condominiums. It was about five feet long and the resident believed it was taken around 2 a.m. The replacement cost is estimated at $500.
May 6, 11:05 a.m.: Police were called to Grace Chapel on Main Street because a man was disturbing church services. The man was annoying other parishioners and would not leave when asked. When police arrived, the man became belligerent and refused to leave. Eventually he agreed to leave and he was trespassed from the church.
