The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
April 16, 7:26 p.m.: Police arrived at the Target parking lot and found a security guard with a suspect who had a brown piece luggage with five bottles of champagne inside. When the man saw the police officers, he dropped the bag and ran. Officers caught him after a brief chase The champagne was worth $297.44. Security told police the man had been spotted taking items from the store on two previous occasions. Also, Police discovered the man was wanted on two warrants. The 31-year-old Boston man was arrested on one count of larceny over $250, two counts of larceny under $250, and on two warrants — one from West Roxbury District Court for larceny under $250; and one from Dorchester District Court for trespassing, receiving stolen property under $250, and breaking and entering during the nighttime for a felony.
April 18, 12:23 p.m.: Police received a report of two people acting suspicious in a vehicle in a parking lot on Galen Street. When officers arrived they found a man and a woman in a Hyundai Elantra with Virginia license plates. While speaking with the people, the officers discovered the vehicle had been stolen. The woman first gave officers a false name and date of birth. Police placed the woman under arrest, and at the station they discovered she had given a false name. When they got the real name, officers discovered that the woman was wanted on two warrants. The 34-year-old Watertown woman was arrested on charges of receiving stolen property (the car), providing police with a false name, and the two warrants — one from Boston District Court on three counts of larceny over $250, and one for possession of a Class E substance. Police released man in the vehicle, but later Police determined he also provided a false identification. The 33-year-old Brookline man was summonsed to Waltham District Court for intimidating a witness and possession of stolen property.
Incidents
April 17, 4:20 p.m.: An Edgecliff Road resident discovered someone had gone through his vehicle. He parked the car at his home on April 16 at 4:50 p.m. and came out the next day to find that the vehicle had been broken into. About $10 in coins went missing, along with a can of ginger ale. The car had been left unlocked.
April 18, 11:30 p.m.: A Townley Road resident attached a hose to a pump in his garage to remove excess water after a rainstorm at about 9 p.m. He left the hose so it emptied into a storm drain. When he came out at about 11 p.m. to check the progress he found the hose had been stuffed inside the tailpipe of his vehicle. He’s not sure when it happened or who did it. The hose went 15 inches into the tailpipe. The extent of the damage to the vehicle was not known.
