The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
April 2, 5:05 p.m.: Police received a report of a man acting erratically on the 700 block of Mt. Auburn Street. They found the man, and while speaking with him, discovered he had a warrant for his arrest. The 56-year-old Watertown man was arrested on the warrant from Waltham District Court for driving under the influence of alcohol and traffic offenses.
April 4, 5:39 p.m.: Police spotted a man running a red light in Watertown Square. The officer pulled the vehicle over and the driver’s record revealed he had a suspended license and registration. The 23-year-old Randolph man was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license – a subsequent offense, and a red-light violation.
April 4, 7:32 p.m.: A routine query of a license plate of a vehicle traveling on School Street found that the registered owner had a suspended license and an active arrest warrant. The vehicle was pulled over and police confirmed the owner was behind the wheel. The 38-year-old Watertown man was arrested for driving with a suspended license – a subsequent offense, and on the warrant from Somerville District Court.
April 5, 1:35 a.m.: Police spotted a vehicle traveling through Watertown Square with no lights on at night. The vehicle was pulled over and there were three people inside. The officer discovered that the driver had a suspended license. The 26-year-old Belmont man was summonsed to Waltham District Court for driving with a suspended license and the equipment violation for driving with no lights. In addition, one of the passengers had a warrant for his arrest. The 31-year-old Cambridge man was arrested on the warrant from Quincy District Court for larceny of library materials over $200.
April 7, 4:12 a.m.: A vehicle had pulled over on Mt. Auburn Street and had its hazard lights on. An officer pulled over to check on the driver and saw that both the front and rear driver-side tires had blown out and the rims were exposed. The officer found the driver asleep behind the wheel with the motor running. When the driver awoke he said that he was just tired and had called AAA. He did not remember how the tires were damaged. The officer noticed that the driver showed signs of intoxication, including an odor of alcohol. The driver admitted that he had consumed alcohol before driving. He failed four field sobriety tests. The 40-year-old Cambridge man was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, a subsequent offense.
April 7, 7:08 p.m.: An officer patrolling in Watertown Square spotted a car run a red light. The officer pulled the vehicle over and discovered the driver had a suspended license and an active warrant. The 35-year-old man from Raleigh, N.C., was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license – a subsequent offense, and on the warrant from Quincy District Court for traffic violations. Police also cited the man for the red light violation.
Incidents
April 3, 8:35 p.m.: A representative from TD Bank called the Watertown Police to report that they had received a threat from a Watertown resident. A woman had called a TD Bank call center, which is located in Auburn, Maine, because she was upset by something going on with her account. The TD Bank official said that during the call the woman said “I am going to burn down the branches.” Police tracked down the 23-year-old Watertown woman, who said she was upset but did not remember what she had said. Officers explained the seriousness of the threats. Watertown Police are investigating, and because the threat was made to a bank the FBI will also be looking into the case.
April 6, 10:35 a.m.: A resident came to the Police Station to report that a package had been stolen from her home on Chatham Way. The package contained a Fendi pocketbook worth $2,800. The woman received confirmation that the package had been delivered at noon that day, but when she got home at 6 p.m. it was gone. Police are investigating.
April 8, 11:35 a.m.: A Robert Ford Road resident discovered that his Nissan Altima was missing. He parked the car at 4 p.m. on April 7 and the next day at 1 p.m. he came out and it was gone.
April 8, 7:35 p.m.: A man went into Metro Mini Mart on Main Street and was acting erratically. He asked if he could purchase a carton of Newport cigarettes. He attempted to pay for the carton, which cost $104.66, with his credit card but it was declined, so he grabbed the carton and ran out of the store. Police located the man a short time later on Main Street near Lexington Street and he was smoking one of the cigarettes. Most of the cigarettes were recovered and the 41-year-old Watertown man was summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting over $100.
