Police Log: Man Arrested for Several Break-ins, Two Drivers Busted for OUIs

The following announcement was provided by the Watertown Police Department.

April 9: Employees at Marshalls discovered two open boxes with the contents missing. One was a travel shaver and the other was an Otterbox wall charger. They were worth a total of $20.

April 9: A shoplifting was reported at Target. Various items worth $287 were taken.

April 11: A person pushed a carriage through Target and took $73 of groceries, and health and beauty items.

April 12: An officer pulled over a vehicle at 1:55 a.m. and discovered the driver had active warrants. Francisco Rasate-Reyes, 33 of Cambridge, was arrested on three warrants: first from Boston District Court for open and gross lewdness and disorderly conduct; the second from Somerville District Court for three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; and the third from Somerville District Court for resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and assault and battery on a police officer.

April 12: An officer spotted a vehicle obstructing the travel lane as cars were approaching. The driver was pulled over and when the officer spoke with the woman an odor of alcohol was detected on her breath and she had bloodshot eyes. The woman admitted to consuming alcohol before driving. The driver took field sobriety arrests, and police arrested Camila Oritz-Castro, 19, of Waltham, for driving under the influence of alcohol.

April 12: A man entered CVS on Main Street and pried open an unattended cash register drawer, took $257 in cash, and left the store. Police are investigating.

April 12: A French Street resident reported that two patio chairs were taken from the back of her home.

April 12: A shoplifter took $185 worth of merchandise from Target.

April 13: Two suspects took $180 worth of items from CVS on Mt. Auburn Street.

April 14: A suspect took $70 worth of items from Best Buy, including a Super Mario game.

April 14: Target security reported that a person stole a $100 air fryer and a $25 electric kettle.

April 14: Police were called to Gray’s Laundromat for an unwanted man. Toros Torossian, 60, of Watertown, was arrested for trespassing. He also had five warrants for trespassing.

April 15: A Fayette Street resident received a call from an unknown number. The person claimed to be the resident’s boss and asked the resident to buy two Apple gift cards for $500 each.

April 16: A driver was seen sleeping in a car on Bacon Street. The car was in the travel lane. Police attempted to wake him. The man smelled like alcohol, had bloodshot and glassy eyes, and slurred his speech. Officers also spotted an open Sam Adams bottle with some beer inside. Field sobriety tests were performed and police arrested Surjit Singh, 56, of Somerville, on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of an open container of alcohol.

April 16: The apartment building at 50 Watertown Street had break-ins on five of seven nights where packages were taken. At 6 p.m. on April 16, building security reported that a man had broken into the building. Officers arrived and located a man outside the building. They identified him as William Beers, 53, of Boston, and discovered he had two active warrants. They also determined he was responsible for the five break-ins. Beers was arrested for 13 crimes, including three counts of breaking and entering during the daytime for a felony, two counts of attempt to commit a crime, four counts of larceny from a building, possession of burglarious tools, possession of a Class A drug, and larceny from a building. He had a default warrant from South Boston District, and a straight warrant from Boston District Court.
