
The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
April 1: Police received a report of a disturbance between a food delivery man and a customer. A Warren Street resident ordered food on GrubHub and when the driver arrived he asked the resident for a confirmation code. The resident said he requested a contactless delivery, and did not have a code. The driver said the resident got upset and threw a fountain drink in his face. The resident said that the driver grabbed him and that was why he threw the drink. Police did not file charges but advised both of the men that they could seek charges on their own at Waltham District Court.
April 1: A man parked near the contractor’s entrance at Home Depot at about 7:15 a.m. and went into the store. When he was getting into his truck he put tools on the ground and forgot to load them before driving away. They were worth $1,310. He realized he had left the tools at Home Depot and returned at 3:30 p.m. but they were gone.
April 1: A shoplifter took $161 worth of merchandise from Target.
April 1: A photographer went to a shoot and brought three cameras. Two were left in cases in the trunk of the vehicle. At about 10 p.m. the photographer went to the trunk and discovered the cases were open and the cameras were gone. They were valued at $2,000 and $1,800. The photographer said they may have been taken in Boston or Watertown.
April 2: The State Police’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force contacted Watertown Police about a man suspected of having child pornography. Watertown detectives and State Police served a warrant and seized the man’s phone. Investigators found 30 videos of child pornography on the phone that he allegedly downloaded. Patrick Athridge, 35, of Watertown, was arrested on a charge of possession of child pornography. State Police will conduct the investigation in conjunction with Watertown Police.
April 3: A man went into Ulta in the Arsenal Mall and attempted to make a purchase. The store had been hit by a string of similar fraudulent purchases using a credit card and a fraudulent ID. The man tried to purchase two items, which cost a total of $673. The man did not have a physical credit card and used an ID from Texas with the name Carla Chavez on it. Police were called and when they arrived the man tried to walk away but was stopped. Ying Lin, 33, of Brooklyn, New York, was arrested for identification fraud, conspiracy, and attempting to commit a crime.
April 3: A tax return was filed in the name of a resident who had not yet filed a return. Police were alerted.
April 6: A Belmont Street resident discovered someone opened a Capital One card in the resident’s name.
April 7: A woman went into CVS on Mt. Auburn Street and took $172 worth of cosmetics.
Mr. Ying Lin, after using a Latina ID, was arrested. His Mensa application rejection letter is in the mail.
