An Earth Day clean up of the Charles River in Watertown and Cambridge will be hosted by State Rep. Steve Owens and the Charles River Conservancy. The event will be on Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to noon. See information in the announcement from State Rep. Owen’s below.
Join State Representative Steve Owens and the Charles River Conservancy as we clean up the Charles River for Earth Day. We’ll meet at the American Legion Marsh Post 442 in Cambridge by the Eliot Bridge and work our way along Greenough Boulevard upriver towards Watertown. Gloves and bags will be available!
Please note that the parking lot for the Marsh Post is limited. Walking, cycling & carpooling is recommended. There are some spaces across the river on the Boston side and a few by the Cambridge Boat Club that are a short walk to where we’ll be set up.
The Annual Earth Day Charles River Cleanup builds on a national effort as part of American Rivers’ National River Cleanup®, which to date, has removed over 25 million pounds of trash from America’s waterways. From 2016 to 2019, the Annual Earth Day Charles River Cleanup was recognized by American Rivers for the Most Pounds of Trash Collected and Most Volunteers Mobilized.
