
The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
March 8: Police responded to Best Buy for a shoplifter. They got the man’s description and located the suspect near Hampton Inn & Suites. The man admitted to shoplifting from Best Buy and had two speakers in a bag. When he took the speaker he removed the “spider” anti-theft devices. He also had merchandise from Marshalls, and admitted to taking those items. Anmani Walker, 40, of Boston, was arrested for larceny, and unlawful removal of a theft-detection device.
March 8: An electric scooter was taken from Whites Avenue. The Okai stand-up electric scooter is valued at $1,000.
March 9: The front and back license plates were taken from a vehicle while parked at the Stop & Shop on Watertown Street.
March 11: Nike employees flagged down an officer after they discovered missing merchandise. While checking inventory employees found multiple empty shoeboxes on the shelf. They checked the video and saw a man and woman taking shoes out of boxes and putting them into a tote bag. They took seven pairs of sneakers that cost a total of $674.
March 12: The Watertown Rehab and Nursing Center called police after a man came in saying he wanted to visit his grandmother. However, his grandmother was not there, and staff told him to leave. He refused and laid down on some blankets and tried to sleep on the floor. Officers arrived and asked the man to leave. He would not cooperate and after 40 minutes of trying to deescalate the situation and asking the man to leave, police placed the man under arrest. Goncalo Barros, 24 of Boston, was arrested for trespassing.
March 12: Two women went into Nike and took six pairs of shoes worth a total of $1,000.
March 13: Home Depot reported that a man took eight items worth $64 and left without paying.
