
For the second year in a row Watertown Middle School won the Valley Middle School Hockey League Championship. The following recap was provided by Pat Dayton.
Watertown and Billerica battled back and forth throughout the fist with a score of 3-1 at the end of the first. Goals by Jake Mosca, Maguire Cruz, and Niko Taormina.
Billerica stepped up defensively in the second, forcing Goalie Oli Mercer to make several key saves. Chuck Grenier finally broke through with a goal from the slot. End of second 4-1 Watertown.
Watertown took over in the third period with fantastic defense by Alex Segreve, Alex Kapetanakos, Liam O’Brien, Colin Curley, and Noah St. Pierre. True team effort with hard play from Nathan Simon, Jack Curley, they pushed the pace. Goals from Maguire Cruz, Jack Clifford, Kam Butler in the third period.
Watertown finished the game with eighth-graders Finn Sibelle, Nico Taormina, and Maguire Cruz on a line who helped bring home the VMHL Championship with an 8-2 Final Score.
