Watertown’s Vatche Arabian teamed with Adam Roffman of Medford to create a movie about a century of filmmaking in Massachusetts. The film will be shown in Somerville, with a Q&A with the filmmakers on March 9. See more information in the announcement from the filmmakers below.
Made in Massachusetts, a 3+ hour chronological journey through over 100 years of filmmaking in Massachusetts will screen on Sunday, March 9 at 1 p.m. at the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square, Somerville.
Made In Massachusetts features clips from over 200 movies and television shows shot in the state starting with films from the silent era and going all the way through 2024. Highlighting cities and towns from Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, and Watertown to Concord, Martha’s Vineyard, Great Barrington, and everywhere in-between. Featuring stars from James Cagney, Elizabeth Taylor, Steve McQueen, and Paul Newman to Harrison Ford, Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds, Kerry Washington, and all the Afflecks and Wahlbergs you can handle.
Admission is FREE, with donations gladly accepted to support the Independent Film Festival Boston (IFFBoston). Q&A with filmmakers Adam Roffman and Vatche Arabian to follow.
Vatche Arabian is a filmmaker and marketing professional born and raised in Watertown, Massachusetts. He currently works as a marketing content producer at Boston Dynamics. Vatche also co-hosts Boston Open Screen, a monthly open-mic night for filmmakers held at the Coolidge Corner Theatre.
Adam Roffman, based in Medford, Massachusetts, has worked in set decoration on feature films in the Boston area for 28 years including films such as The Holdovers, Little Women, CODA, American Hustle, The Town, and Gone Baby Gone. He was the Program Director of the Independent Film Festival Boston (IFFBoston) from 2003-2013 and has directed several award-winning short documentaries.
