Watertown residents should prepare for a classic February weather pattern with plenty of ups and downs. After a quiet end to the week, all eyes are on a winter storm set to arrive late Saturday night, bringing a good chance for plowable snowfall across the area. While trends are favoring mostly snow, there’s still a small chance for some sleet or freezing rain to mix in. Once that system moves out, we’ll dry out to start the new workweek before another potential winter storm moves in by midweek. This second system is still uncertain in its track, but it’s something to keep an eye on. Temperatures will stay seasonably cold throughout the week, with highs mostly in the upper 20s to low 30s.
Friday, February 7:
A breezy but mostly sunny day with highs around 37°F. A west wind at 10 to 18 mph will bring gusts up to 33 mph, making it feel colder at times. By the evening, high pressure builds in, bringing partly cloudy skies as temperatures drop to around 18°F with west winds easing to 6 to 10 mph.
Saturday, February 8:
A quiet start to the weekend with mostly sunny skies and a high near 33°F. Winds will be light from the west at 6 to 8 mph. By Saturday night, the anticipated winter storm moves in, bringing snow after midnight that could be moderate to heavy at times. With a low around 22°F and light east winds, several inches of accumulation are possible overnight, though exact amounts are still uncertain.
Sunday, February 9:
Snow continues through the morning before tapering off by early afternoon, leaving behind a wintry landscape. High temperatures will reach around 32°F, with an east wind shifting to northwest at 6 to 10 mph and gusts up to 20 mph. The system’s southern track favors mostly snow, but a bit of sleet or freezing rain can’t be ruled out. By Sunday night, high pressure returns, bringing clearing skies and colder temperatures dropping to around 12°F with a light northwest breeze at 6 mph.
Monday, February 10:
A dry but chilly start to the week with mostly sunny skies and a high near 31°F. A west wind around 6 mph will make it feel brisk, but overall, it’ll be a quiet winter day. Overnight, expect partly cloudy skies with a low near 12°F and light west winds.
Tuesday, February 11:
Clouds will increase ahead of the next potential winter system, with highs near 33°F and a light southwest breeze. By Tuesday night, another storm may impact the region, bringing the potential for accumulating snow. The exact track remains uncertain, but a low around 21°F and shifting winds suggest a developing coastal system that could bring another round of wintry weather.
Wednesday, February 12:
Snow may continue into the morning before tapering off, depending on the system’s track. High temperatures will be near 33°F with a north wind at 7 mph. Overnight, skies turn partly cloudy as temperatures dip to around 20°F, setting up for another cold but seasonable night.
Thursday, February 13:
A cold but quiet day with partly sunny skies and highs near 30°F. Light west winds at 5 to 8 mph will keep things feeling chilly. The evening will be partly cloudy, with temperatures dropping to around 18°F.
Friday, February 14:
Mostly sunny and seasonably cold to close out the week, with highs around 28°F and a light northwest wind. Overnight, clear skies will allow temperatures to drop to around 14°F, making for a cold but calm Valentine’s night.
