The following announcement was provided by the Watertown Library:

The Watertown Free Public Library’s Hatch Makerspace turns 10 this month! The Library invites you to join us in celebrating a decade of community creativity!

Founded in 2014, Hatch Makerspace marked its official opening in January 2015 at the Arsenal Mall in Watertown. One of the first Library-run makerspaces in the region, Hatch was envisioned as a free workshop space where everyday people could share tools, materials, and expertise that would otherwise be inaccessible to most individuals.

Now located at 20 Summer Street in a space generously donated by The Residence In Watertown Square, Hatch is open to the public six days a week, no appointment needed. We host a variety of monthly workshops and events. Some of our most popular tools include 3D printers, the laser cutter, and sewing machines.

In January, you are invited to celebrate with us during a Hatch Makerspace Birthday Showcase (with cake!) at the Library on January 25. You’ll have a chance to view, touch, and test out some of the many things you can create at Hatch, chat with experienced makers, and hear what we are planning for the future. We will celebrate at the Library, 123 Main Street, and offer optional walking tours from the Library to Hatch during the event.

About Hatch Makerspace

Hatch Makerspace is a workshop space stocked with tools, materials, and expertise so that community members can learn and create their own do-it-yourself projects. First opened at the Arsenal Mall in 2014, Hatch now resides at 20 Summer Street, a five-minute walk from the Watertown Library. Hatch Makerspace is free to use and open to everyone.

Hatch welcomes anyone with a desire to create; artists, crafters, engineers, families, hobbyists, and you! You can often bring your own materials (we have some limitations) and use our space to get a little messy.

Hatch is an initiative of the Watertown Free Public Library (WFPL) with support from the Watertown Community Foundation and the Watertown Free Public Library Building Committee. WFPL thanks the Residence at Watertown Square for generously hosting Hatch, free of charge, at their facility on 20 Summer Street.
