Watertown Field Hockey Coach Eileen Donahue collected another accolade this month when she was honored by the MIAA, and Watertown wrestler Tessa Master kicked off her season with a win in a major holiday tournament.
Donahue was named Field Hockey Coach of the Year, and was honored at a banquet held by the MIAA. In November, she coached the Watertown to the team’s fourth straight State Championship, and the Raiders finished undefeated at 22-0. Watertown has won 22 State Titles with Donahue at the helm.

Watertown’s Tessa Master got her senior season off to a good start by taking the 152 pound title at the Lowell Holiday Tournament.
Watertown Wrestling Coach Kevin Russo said Master breezed through the first few rounds, not giving up a point. In the final, Master was down 6-2 before pinning the wrestler from Billerica.
“The girl she wrestled dropped a weight class to beat Tessa,” Russo said. “She told Tessa she would beat her and Tessa showed her skill on the mat. The opponent was well coached and well prepared, but Tessa came back strong to win, a reflection of her hard work and dedication.”
Russo added that Master works harder than anyone in the Watertown program. Along with her practices at WHS, Master trains at Dough Boy/Dough Girl in Lowell on Sundays.
In 2023, she won the All State Meet, the Div. 3 title, and moved on to the New England Wrestling Championships. Master was the first Watertown wrestler to qualify for and win a match at New Englands.
The Raiders have two home meets in the coming week: Saturday, Dec. 28 at 10 a.m. vs. Malden Catholic, Waltham, and Saugus in the Watertown Middle School Gym, and Tuesday, Dec. 31 at 10 a.m. vs. Bishop Fenwick, Carver, and Lynnfield at the Watertown Middle School Gym.
