Library’s Winter Concerts Include Norwegian Fiddle, Indie Folk & Songs from Around the World

The Watertown Free Public Library (WFPL) is thrilled to announce our 2024—25 Winter Concert Series! Join us at the Library, December through March, one Sunday per month. As in previous years, our concert series features talented, local artists. Performances are free and open to all and registration is not required.

Violinist Joshua Peckins

Sunday, Dec. 8 | 2 PM | Kick off WFPL’s Winter Concert Series with award-winning violinist, Joshua Peckins. Joshua will present his program, “Blue Sunrise—from Bach to Blues,” Norwegian fiddle, and Ysaÿe’s famous “sunrise sonata.”

The Ruth and Ben String Band

Sunday, Jan. 5 | 2 PM | Watertown’s own Ruth Rappaport and Ben Wetherbee are a mother-and-son musical duo whose repertoire includes rousing, powerful old-time fiddle tunes and traditional, modern, and original songs that feature tight harmony singing. They have a CD called “Newfangled Folk,” and when they team up with a banjo and bass player they play as “The Ruth and Ben String Band.”  

World Music with Tamara Jokic

Sunday, Feb. 2 | 2 PM | Explore the world through song, as award-winning vocalist and educator Tamara Jokic discusses world music and performs songs in various languages — while bringing their historical and cultural contexts to life via images, video, and stories

Indie Folk by Grace Givertz

Sunday, Mar. 2 | 2 PM | Hailing from the sunshine state of Florida, Grace Givertz captivates audiences with her indie folk compositions, blending earworm melodies with heartfelt storytelling. As a multi-instrumentalist, she infuses her music with a diverse array of sounds, weaving folk, Americana, and indie rock into a tapestry uniquely her own.
