The group seeking to bring a food co-operative to the Watertown area will host its second annual meeting on Nov. 21. Members and potential members may attend. See details below.
The Charles River Food Co-op is pleased to announce its second Annual Meeting, scheduled for Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 7:00 PM. The meeting will take place at the Watertown Free Public Library, located at 123 Main Street, Watertown, MA, both in-person and via Zoom.
This annual gathering offers an opportunity for members and the community to engage with the Co-op’s leadership, review the year’s achievements, and discuss future initiatives. Attendees will hear updates on the Co-op’s progress, including membership growth, market research findings, and plans for establishing a community-owned food store in the Watertown, Waltham, or Newton area. All are welcome to attend this meeting – potential members especially are encouraged to see how the Co-op is developing.
The Charles River Food Co-op, incorporated in April 2022, has made significant strides this year, reaching over 880 members. This past year, the Co-op has completed two market research studies, continued to hone a financial feasibility study, and has begun a site selection process in concert with CoEverything, a worker-owned co-operative that helped the Dorchester Food Co-op open their store. CoEverything will also be presenting their approach at our Annual Meeting for our members to listen in.
Community members interested in learning more about the Co-op’s mission and how to become a member are encouraged to attend. The event is open to the public, and all are welcome to participate in shaping the future of local, community-owned food access.
