Sound in various forms will be the attraction this weekend, from a sunset sound meditation at Mount Auburn Cemetery on Saturday evening to a unique one-man concert at Donohue’s on Sunday evening. What is more iconic for an American summer evening? A very unusual talk is happening at Hibernian Hall on Sunday afternoon for those fascinated by the human body. Take a look at the details. They’re unnerving!
AN OUTDOOR SOUND MEDITATION at Mount Auburn Cemetery
Saturday, Aug. 24, 5:30-6:30 p.m
Sound Healing practitioner Marlene Boyette welcomes all to be held by the earth, to find refuge, to rest, and to be led through a guided meditation intended to bring the mind and the body into unison, while also engaging the senses. Weaving together the sounds, vibrations, and energy of our natural surroundings with a variety of instruments (including deeply resonant crystal and metal singing bowls and chimes), participants will be bathed in layered sonic acoustics.
The experience will close with an opportunity for all to reflect and set intentions for the new season through dialogue and/or journaling.
What to bring: a yoga mat, blanket or towel, a journal, and writing utensil. Plastic folding chairs will be available if needed.
Check-in for the event will be at the top of the ramp entrance into Hazel Dell (off of Central Ave). The meditation will take place in Hazel Dell.
Rain location: Story Chapel.
Event Capacity: 40

THE NERVE TOUR with Gil Hedley
Sunday, Aug. 25, 1-6 p.m.
Ancient Order of Hibernians Hall, 151 Watertown St.
Join Gil for the national tour of his one-of-a-kind inspirational presentation, The Nerve Project: Exploring the Norve Tree in Relationship.”
In this 5-hour live talk, Gill will share his latest research and discoveries from his incredible five month journey dissecting the nerve tree. Through powerful visual presentation, lecture, stories, and guided embodiment exercises, Gill will demonstrate the details of both the central autonomic, and peripheral nervous tissues. Gill has worked for the past 30 years in the dissection lab, and this is the first dissection of its kind to be documented in images and video from the characteristically integral perspective for which Gil is best known.
OBD PROJECT at Donohue’s Bar & Grill
Sunday, Aug. 25, 5-8 p.m.
87 Bigelow Ave.
ODB Project is led by Midhael Dion, former lead singer/songwriter of New England’s high-energy, genre-bending string band, Hot Day at the Soo (HDATZ) and current front man of rock & roll powerhouse Daemon Chili (DC).
ODB Project puts a decidedly unique twist on the one-band-band ethos. Imagine one guy singing and playing electric guitar, lap-steen guitar and harmonica, over unique acoustic arrangements.
