The following announcement was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
July 8, 8 p.m.: A man walked into Nike with a white mesh bag and stole $225 worth of clothing.
July 9, 11:40 a.m.: A shoplifter was reported at Nike. The woman walked in with two reusable Target bags and a backpack. She filled the bags with $348 in merchandise and left without paying.
July 8, 12:15 p.m.: A man went into Best Buy carrying two reusable bags. He took a pair of Apple headphones valued at $40.
July 9, 4:25 p.m.: A man on rollerblades was seen causing a disturbance on Mt. Auburn Street in Coolidge Square. He punched a parked vehicle and damaged a rearview mirror. Then he spat on the car.
July 10, 2 p.m.: An employee of Arsenal Yards was watering plants on Bond Street when a man was walking on the opposite sidewalk. The man then crossed the street and headed toward where the employee was watering. He walked through the stream and yelled, “Watch where you are watering, bro!” An argument ensued, and the man pulled a knife from the front of his pants. He held it like he was going to attack the employee. When the employee said he would call police, the man ran away. The employee got a photo of the suspect. Police searched the area and spoke to security at the Watertown Mall, who said a man fitting the description was seen going into the men’s restroom. Officers found the man and took him into custody. Eric Sequeira, 22, of Boston, was arrested on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.
July 11, 9 p.m.: A man had pre-ordered an Apple laptop valued at $1,300. A man came in at 7 p.m. and picked up the computer. Later, the man who ordered the computer came in and was told that the laptop had already been picked up. Someone had hacked his account. Police are investigating.
July 12, 7:50 p.m.: Security at Nike recognized a woman from previous shoplifting incidents when she came into the store. The woman left the store and it appeared she went to the parking lot in front of Target. Police were called and officers located her vehicle, in which they could see multiple pairs of Nike sneakers. Store security cameras caught the woman removing shoes from the box and putting them into a bag. She took three pairs worth a total of $190. Jennifer McAuliffe, 45, of Boston, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting.
July 13, 12 p.m.: A package was delivered to a home on Winter Street, but when the resident returned home it was missing. The package contained $237 worth of various items.
July 15, 8:30 a.m.: A man took $270 worth of merchandise from Target.
July 16, 3:20 p.m.: A woman went into Target and took $457 worth of merchandise.
July 16, 7 p.m.: A man went to Best Buy to purchase two Apple laptops for a total of $5,098. He paid with cash and put five stacks of bills worth $1,000 on the counter. As the employee counted the money, the man took $3,300 in cash and put it back in his pocket. The employee, who was new to Best Buy, believed the man paid the full amount but he only paid $1,770, so the store was short $3,300.
July 16, 9 a.m.: A person went to the Coolidge Square laundromat and put $200 worth of towels in two driers. The person left for a short time and the towels were gone when the person returned.
July 17: A person reported that two scooters had been stolen from a garage at Arsenal Yards. The first was a Ninebot F65 valued at $600 and the second was a Segway G30Max valued at $630. They were taken between July 9 and 16.
I gota say – there are a lot of sneaky people sneaking sneakers out of stores.
No wonder tRump is selling sneakers, people are dumb enough to buy them thinking they are somehow so valuable. Like there aren’t plenty around or something.
