The following announcement was provided by Turf and Get Lively Health & Fitness:
On April 27, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m at 25 Clarendon St., Watertown, MA, the community is invited to drop off lightly loved sports equipment their kids have outgrown. Then from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., community members are invited to shop for free sports equipment.
To celebrate the launch of Turf, a new online marketplace for recreational programs, camps, and other activities, Turfgo, LLC and Get Lively® Heath & Fitness have teamed up to help community members share lightly loved sports equipment. Participants are asked to drop their sports equipment at the Get Lively® Health & Fitness Studio between the hours of 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. only.
“Working parents need a hand finding programs for their kids whether it’s to feed their kids’ curiosity and cultural development, improve sports and team skills, or simply finding creative child care options,” said Michelle Tempesta, founder of Turf. “It’s hard enough to juggle everything when you’re a parent with young kids, our community needs to make it easier – and I know we can help. This Equipment Rally is the beginning of something truly amazing!”
“I recognized the benefits Turf could bring to this community right away,” said Jan Taylor, owner Get Lively ® Health & Fitness Studio. “Co-hosting this event is a natural extension to the other community involvement activities we readily take part in here at the studio. In December, for example, we collected hundreds of toys for the Watertown Food Pantry’s annual holiday shop. Community events like this not only bring our studio family closer together, but the community at large as well.”
The “Pass the Torch: Youth Sports Equipment Rally” will accept gently used sports equipment such as sports balls, bats, rackets, gloves, and other equipment that is clean and in good working condition. For more information about the event please visit www.turfgo.io.
About Turf
Tuft is a marketplace for recreational programs. Launching on April 27, 2024, parents and caregivers now have a single place to find programs, camps, and other activities for kids. Founded by software industry veteran and mom to twin boys, Michelle Tempesta who experienced the pain of trying to stay in-the-know on all available activities first-hand while working full time. Turf provides a central location designed specifically for caregivers to create a profile and search for programs that match their kiddo’s needs. As the data set builds with use, AI, automated alerts and registration, and other advanced technology will help parents quickly locate programs and then register for them on time.
