The New Year begins on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023, and the holiday will impact hours at some Watertown City facilities, including City Hall, the Library and the Senior Center.
The holiday will impact hours on Friday, Dec. 30, Sunday, Jan. 1, and Monday Jan. 2.
Trash and recycling pickup will be delayed by a day due to observance of the New Year holiday on Jan. 2. So, streets normally picked up on Mondays will be collected on Tuesday, and so on.

Charlie, Please double check on the one day delayed trash/recycling pick-up. The DPW is not aware of a planed delay since the holiday falls on Sunday. Last week’s pick was on a normal schedule without a one day delay.
Thanks for the question. I did double check. For some reason the Christmas holiday did not impact the pickup, but according to the calendar that just came out New Years delays pickup by a day.

I got multiple notices from the town (email, text message, phone call) that Christmas week trash pickup would NOT be delayed a day and New Year’s week trash pickups WILL be delayed a day because I’ve signed up for notices from the town. Everyone should sign up for notifications to eliminate confusion like this. I presume the reason they did it this way was so that DPW employees could have a 3 day weekend in the middle (Dec 30,31,Jan 1).
