It’s playoff time for the Watertown’s Summer Basketball League, and March Madness in August begins with four games Monday night.
The Papas Elite League features teams made up of current and former college basketball players who compete on the outdoor court behind the Watertown Boys & Girls Club in Saltonstall Park. The teams played a regular season slate of 15 games each.
The playoff schedule kicks off with four first round games.
The first game, at 6:30 p.m., matches up fourth seeded Middlesex Magic (8-7) against the fifth seed, Zards (8-7).
At 7:25 p.m., Donahue’s Kaos Club (12-3), the second seed, faces seventh seeded Local Legends (3-12).
The top team in the regular season, HBC (14-1), takes on Made Men (3-12), the eighth seed.
In the nightcap, at 9:15 p.m., No. 3 New Day (11-4) plays No. 6 Boomer’s – Pizza Subs Deli (7-9).
The winners of Monday’s games advance to a best-of-three semifinal series, which takes place from Tuesday to Thursday. The HBC-Made Men winner will play the winner of the Middlesex Madness-Zards game. In the other series, the victory in the game between Donahue’s Kaos Club and Local Legends faces New Day or Boomer’s – Pizza Subs Deli.
The two semifinal winners will compete in a best-of-three finals series, which begins Monday, Aug. 19.
