The Raiders took control early in the MIAA Div. 2 North Section quarterfinal against Ipswich and rolled to a 5-0 victory on Sunday morning.
Top seeded Watertown moved a step closer to its 10th straight State Title by defeating the ninth seeded Tigers at Victory Field.
Watertown senior Gabby Venezia struck first, less than three minutes into the game. She was assisted by senior Olivia Lampasona.
Twenty minutes later, Venezia found the back of the net again. She dribbled the ball in and whacked it past the goalie.
In the second half, junior Ally Kennedy got the ball on her stick outside the circle and headed straight toward goal, scoring unassisted to make it 3-0 Watertown just under six minutes into the half.
The Raiders last two tallies came about two minutes apart.
First, Catherine Connors tipped in a blast from Venezia 9:24 into the second half.
Freshman Taylor Lambo got her stick on a ball, scoring the Raiders’ fifth goal. Assists went to Lampasona and Kennedy.
Watertown (18-0-1) moves on to the North semifinal against fourth seeded Lynnfield (16-3-1), which beat Weston 3-1 on Saturday. The game will be played at Reading High School on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
