Watertown High School’s field hockey team will begin its quest for its 10th straight State Championship on Friday afternoon at Victory Field.
The Raiders earned the No. 1 seed in the MIAA Div. 2 North tournament. Watertown finished the regular season undefeated, with a record of 16-0-1.
On Friday, the Raiders will face the winner of the game between No. 16 Tewksbury and 17th seed Bishop Fenwick. The winner will advance to the North Section quarterfinal against either Pentucket or Ipswich.
The second seed in Div. 2 North is Gloucester, the No. 2 seed is Manchester-Essex, and the forth seed is Lynnfield.
Football
The WHS football team will try to keep the winning going on Friday when the Raiders face Boston Latin. The battle of non-playoff teams will be at 7 p.m. at White Stadium in Boston’s Franklin Park.
Watertown got its second win of the season on Friday when the Raiders defeated Lynnfield 7-2 on the strength of a touchdown by sophomore David Manoukian. Boston Latin seeks its first win of the year. The Wolfpack’s 31-7 loss at Chelmsford on Friday dropped the Dual County League team to 0-8.
