Get Konnected! will unveil its list of the 25 Most Influential Millennials of Color in Greater Boston, plus three founder’s choices, during the GK25: Who is Who event on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at WeWork Cambridge (625 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge) from 6:00-8:30 p.m. Among the honorees will include Rick Fredkin, president and founder of Watertown-based education and technology company Eduporium.
Eduporium, whose mission is “empowering the future with technology,” brings the Watertown community together by offering STEM/STEAM technology to individuals of all ages from Kindergarten to higher education. Fredkin has over 20 years of experience in the technology field and is actively involved in the community with advisory panels that promote education, workforce readiness and diversity in the technology sector.
The GK25 is a unique list of millennial leaders, innovators, creators, and entrepreneurs who are boldly envisioning, creating and transforming the future of Greater Boston. Get Konnected! will celebrate, recognize and document the achievements of these emerging leaders of color, like Fredkin, who hail from various industries such as business and innovation, communications and media, healthcare and life sciences, social innovation, politics and the public sector.
The event marks Get Konnected!’s latest history-making list of influential people of color. In March 2018, Get Konnected! honored its second cohort of the GK100, the 100 Most Influential People of Color in Boston and in Sept. 2017, Get Konnected! honored the GK50, the 50 Most Influential People in Science and Health Care.
“Millennials are currently the largest generation in the United States labor force, according to the Pew Research Center. What’s exciting is that millennials feel empowered to build their own businesses and work for companies that contribute to social good,” says Colette Phillips, CEO and founder of Get Konnected! “However, these contributions remain largely unknown. This event aims to change that with a list designed to shine a spotlight on these influential young leaders of color and their important contributions within the community.”
The event is partnering with City Awake, the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce’s next-generation leadership platform, and will conclude its first-ever six-day Fierce Urgency of Now (F.U.N.) festival, which will feature over 30 events and programs from Sept. 20-25 to highlight the experiences of millennials of
color in Greater Boston.
