Watertown sprinter Mange Camara wrapped up an outstanding junior season by finishing third place at the MIAA All State Outdoor Track Meet in the 200 meters, and broke a school record that was over 50 years old.
Camara came into the meet with the fifth fastest seed time. He ran the preliminary heat in 22.05 seconds. Then improved on that time in the final, 21.87 seconds, which claimed third place and was .35 seconds behind the winner, Joseph O’Brien of Shrewsbury.
The time broke the 52-year-old school record of 21.92, that had been set in 1966 by Ken Ryan (a former teammate of Watertown Track Coach Larry Sullivan).
The time was faster than the race at the Div. 4 Track Meet last week, which he won with a time of 22.03. It fell just short of qualifying for the New Balance Outdoor Nationals qualifying time of 21.80.

Camara also won the 100 meters in the Div. 4 meet, but did not run that event at the All-State Meet. At the Middlesex League meet he competed in the 400 meters and won that event.
During his indoor season, Camara got all the way to Nationals. He also set the school records in the 300 meters and 55 meter dash during the indoor season, and won the 300 in the Div. 5 Indoor Meet.
Watertown senior Emily Koufos competed on the girls side of the All-State Meet. She ran the mile in 5:19.47, and finished 22nd.
Senior Ben Landry ran in the 400 hurdles, but did not finish the race.
