The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
March 26, 5:34 a.m.: A man discovered that a male friend of his adult daughter was in his home, so the homeowner called police to have the man removed. Police knew that the man had a warrant for his arrest, but when they arrived he was gone. He was spotted a short time later walking down Worcester Street and when officers approached, the man ran away through back yards. Police got the assistance of a State Police search dog and tracked him down inside the shed of a home on Fitchburg Street. The 24-year-old Boston man was arrested for breaking and entering during the nighttime, along with two warrants: one from Suffolk Superior Court for armed and masked robbery in Newton, and one from Malden District Court for trafficking cocaine and traffic related charges.
March 29, 4:54 p.m.: A man came into Dyer Liquors on Mt. Auburn Street and tried to purchase a bottle of vodka and tried to pay for it using three debit cards but each was declined. The man got angry and began yelling and then struck a case of vodka with his elbow causing bottles to shatter and spill the contents on the rug. Then he hit the cash register and damaged the monitor. The 40-year-old Newton man was arrested on a charge of willful and malicious destruction of property.
Incidents
March 26, 3:30 p.m.: A teenager was at the Dunkin’ Donuts on Main Street and when he was leaving a car backed out of a parking space and struck him on the left thigh. The driver and the teen exchanged words and the driver left. The driver was an elderly man who was driving a blue Mercury. The teen went home and told his mother what happened. She called police to report the incident. The Fire Department was also called to evaluate the boy, but they did not see any serious injuries. The teen was taken to the doctor by his mother to be examined.
March 26, 5:50 p.m.: A Holt Street resident discovered someone had scratched “Gabe” into two of six plastic window panes on a garage door. The homeowner did not know of any significance of the name.
March 27, 12:40 p.m.: A woman went to Stop & Shop on Watertown Street and filled a shopping cart with groceries. She then went to customer service to purchase a lottery ticket and then left the store without paying for the groceries. Security stopped the woman in the parking lot. She had about $400 worth of merchandise. The 47-year-old Waltham woman was summonsed to Waltham District Court for larceny over $250.
March 28, 2:45 p.m.: Target security spotted a woman go through the self-checkout aisle and scanned one item and then put another in the bag without scanning it. She repeated this several times. Then she tried to leave but was stopped. She had $87.99 worth of items for which she had not paid. The 53-year-old Newton woman was summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting.
March 28, 6:05 p.m.: A woman was driving through the Target parking lot when she got into a verbal argument with another woman. The woman then parked and went into the store to shop. When she came back out she found someone had thrown two raw eggs on her vehicle.
March 29, 12:45 p.m.: A package was delivered by UPS on March 27, but the recipient could not locate it. The package contained $50 in make up products.
March 29, 1 p.m.: A Coolidge Hill Road resident discovered that someone had broken into a vehicle parked in a driveway, likely sometime overnight. There was no forced entry and nothing appeared to be missing, but items in the vehicle had been moved around.
March 29, 2:05 p.m.: An officer was speaking with someone on Lexington Street when a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road and the driver got out and began yelling. The man was walking toward the vehicle in back of him. The officer tried to speak to the man and told him to pull the vehicle over. The man yelled obscenities at the officer and drove away. The officer got a license plate and the registered owner’s license photo matched with the same man he had been speaking with. The 36-year-old Watertown man was summonsed to Waltham District Court on a charge of failure to stop for police.
March 30, 4:10 p.m.: A woman was seen taking several items and put them in a reusable Target shopping bag. She then attempted to leave Target without paying. Store security stopped her and found she had $176.55 in household items, clothing, a fitted mattress protector and food. The 28-year-old Brighton woman was summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting over $100.
