The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
March 12, 2:50 a.m.: An officer patrolling on Mt. Auburn Street spotted a vehicle parked in an alley off Phillips Street behind a business and its motor was running. Two people were in the vehicle. The officer spoke to the occupants and found they both had warrants for their arrest. A 32-year-old man from Greenfield, NH, had a warrant out of Lawrence District Court for possession of a Class A Drug and possession of a fire arm without being properly licensed; and a second warrant from Cambridge District Court for possession of a Class A drug. A 32-year-old woman from Brookline, NH, had a warrant from Cambridge District Court for unlicensed driving. Both were placed under arrest.
March 16, 5 a.m.: An officer patrolling on Main Street by Thaxter Street spotted a woman sitting in an idling car. When the officer drove by 25 minutes later the woman was still sitting in the vehicle. The officer ran the vehicle’s registration and found the woman had a revoked driver’s license. When the car drove away it did not have its headlights on. The officer stopped the vehicle and the woman refused to roll down the window. When she finally did open the window she told the officer she did not have a license with her and refused to give her name and information. Then she began shouting at the officer. After several attempts to get her identification the the officer tried to remove the woman from the car and she became combative. The 31-year-old woman from Canton was arrested for driving with a revoked license, resisting arrest, refusing to identify herself to police and an equipment violation for failing to use her headlights. A man who was in the with the woman was found to have a two warrants for his arrest. The 43-year-old Dedham man was arrested on one warrant from Dedham District Court for driving without a license and a second warrant from Wrentham District Court for shoplifting.
March 16, 6:50 p.m.: A woman was seen going around Target taking clothing, pulling off the price tags and putting them in a tote bag she had with her. She tried to walk out without paying for $276.75 in merchandise. When security tried to stop her she started flailing and making a scene in front of customers. The officer who arrived to deal with the situation recognized the woman as the same one who was arrested earlier in the day and had been combative with officers. She had been to court for the first arrest and released. The 31-year-old Canton woman was arrested for disorderly conduct and larceny over $250. While the officer was at Target, security said that the woman had been at in the store earlier in the day with a man. The officer showed security a picture of the man arrested with the woman that morning and security said that it was the same man. Security saw the man taking clothing and putting it in his coat. When they tried to stop him he ran out of the store. Police put out a summons for the 43-year-old Dedham man for shoplifting.
March 17, 11:10 p.m.: Two concerned motorist called police about a a brown Honda that was being driven erratically. An officer spotted the vehicle and saw it run a stop sign. He followed the vehicle and it pulled over on Ladd Place and the driver got out and tried to walk away. Police asked him to come back and he did. The man admitted to consuming alcohol before driving. He failed three field sobriety tests. The 23-year-old Waltham man was was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and unlicensed driving. He was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign.
March 18, 5:30 p.m.: A shoplifter was detained by security at Target. The man was seen picking up a bakeware set and walk out without paying for it. The set was worth $149.99. The 47-year-old Mattapan man was arrested on a charge of shoplifting over $100, a third offense.
Incidents
March 13, 4:45 p.m.: A Coolidge Avenue resident reported to police that he had been scammed. The elderly man said he had his computer maintained by a computer company in December 2016. He received a call from someone with a thick Indian accent saying he was from the company and was told he was going to be refunded for the services. The caller told the man to open a new bank account and the caller was able to access the man’s computer and some of his personal information. The man was told to buy gift cards and give the man the information. He bought $14,000 in gift cards and then realized it was a scam.
March 15, 3:30 p.m.: A Morse Street resident came home to find that someone had tried to break into the home. The resident left between 6 and 7 a.m. and came back to find the back door had been damaged. A pane of glass was shattered and the lock was damaged. It did not appear that anyone was able to gain access to the home. There were no witnesses.
March 15, 10:30 p.m.: A woman walking along North Beacon Street near Irving Street heard someone making lewd comments toward her. The man yelled out very vulgar things at her, but she was not able to see who was yelling at her. The woman became alarmed and called 911. She saw a vehicle leave the area, but she wasn’t sure if that was where the comments were coming from.
March 16, 7:10 a.m.: A Philip Darch Road resident discovered someone threw an egg on the person’s vehicle. There was no permanent damage or witnesses.
March 16, 12:23 p.m.: Target security spotted a man taking several items of clothing and tried to stop him, but he ran out of the store. The man was seen running on Arsenal Street and then got onto an MBTA bus. The clothes were worth between $70 and $80.
