The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
Feb. 12, 4 p.m.: Police were called to Target for a woman who had been seen trying to leave without paying for 22 items of clothing, cosmetics and headphones. The items were worth $425.80. The 31-year-old Cambridge woman was arrested on a charge of larceny over $250.
Feb. 12, 8:33 p.m.: An officer patrolling on Galen Street saw a car running a red light. The vehicle was stopped on Morse Street by Jackson Road and Police discovered the driver did not have a valid license. The 46-year-old Everett man was arrested on charges of driving without a license and failing to stop.
Feb. 17, 12:51 a.m.: A vehicle on Galen Street at Watertown Street pulled over and let a vehicle go by, and then pulled right behind it and drove very close behind. The driver then began honking in three-second bursts. The incident was observed by a Police officer. The driver who was honking was pulled over and the officer smelled a strong odor of alcohol on her driver’s breath. She had glossy eyes and had slurred speech. She failed field sobriety test and the 41-year-old Watertown woman was arrested on charges of driving recklessly and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Feb. 17, 9:36 a.m.: Police detectives arrested a man after investigating him for stealing items from a freight company’s Watertown location. He was found to be stealing cell phones coming through the facility on four separate occasions. The 30-year-old Randolph man was arrested on four counts of larceny over $250 by a single scheme.
Feb. 17, 10:47 a.m.: Two vehicles got into an accident on Arlington Street near Belmont Street. The driver of one of the cars appeared to be confused when Police spoke to him. A strong odor of alcohol was detected on the man’s breath, his speech was slurred and he failed field sobriety tests. The 49-year-old Watertown man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and marked lanes violation.
Feb. 18, 10:17 p.m.: An officer patrolling on Mt. Auburn Street near Common Street spotted a vehicle driving without using its headlights. The vehicle was pulled over and the officer discovered the driver did not have a license. The 22-year-old Cambridge woman was arrested for driving without a license and an equipment violation.
Incidents
Feb. 12, 8:49 p.m.: A Harrington Street resident received a package in the mail that contained medication, but the resident had not ordered it. The resident notified Police, and the package was turned over to Postal Police. The package contained small white pills, and was not addressed to the resident but was addressed to the location.
Feb. 16, 3:54 p.m.: A Grant Avenue resident discovered that two vehicles parked in the driveway had been broken into. The resident believed the vehicles were unlocked. It also appears that floodlights on the driveway had been disabled. The incident is under investigation.
Feb. 16, 7:39 p.m.: A vehicle caught fire on Mt. Auburn Street. The Fire Department was called and arrived to find a 2013 Mercury Sable with heavy smoke coming from underneath the hood. The fire was put out and appeared to have been caused by an electrical problem with the vehicle.
Feb. 17, 10:23 a.m.: Three vehicles parked in a lot on Arsenal Street sustained damaged, and it appeared to be intentional. A 2016 Ford Fiesta, a 2017 Nissan Frontier and a 2003 Honda Accord each had multiple tires slashed and the hood of the Frontier was keyed. The vehicles were all parked next to each other.
Feb. 17, 12:47 p.m.: A woman lost her wallet while walking through Coolidge Square. The wallet was recovered and returned to her by someone who knew her, but the woman discovered that it was missing $20 in cash, an old driver’s license and a security card.
