Watertown Police seek the identity of a man who robbed a convenience store on Mt. Auburn Street on Feb. 3, 2018.
At 10:02 p.m. on Feb. 3, a man wearing a mask used a knife to rob Victoria Spa at 597 Mt. Auburn St. See the video below.
“(The suspect) entered the store and quickly approached the counter, pulling out a knife from his waist area. (The suspect) yelled out to the clerk as he walked into the store ‘Give me all the (expletive) money,'” according to a press release from the Watertown Police. “The suspect then pushed his way behind the counter, grabbed the clerk by the neck while forcing the knife to the clerk’s face.”
The suspect then pushed the clerk to the end of the counter, opened the register and stole a large amount of cash, according to Police.
About nine people ran out of the store after the suspect told them to “get the (expletive) out.
The suspect left the area in a dark-colored, four-dooor sedan – possibly a Nissan Altima, Police said. Two other people were seen in the car.
Police seek help identifying the suspect. Anyone with information should contact Detective Dave MacNeil at 617-972-6540 or dmacneil@police.watertown-ma.gov
I am very relieved that the store clerk is alive and well! That is all that really matters. I guess that whole $$$$ Mall Redo might want to get a rethink. I don’t believe we hear about this type of crime as often as it occurs now. I have lived here (Watertown) for my entire life. I never go East of Mt Auburn Street anymore, day or night, EVER! Watertown is simply getting what it deserves. Welcome to West Cambridge MA! It’s time to leave here.
Thanks for the comment. It is a scary incident.
One thing the police told me was this was an unusually violent incident for Watertown, so thankfully that sort of thing does not happen often here.
I agree. I’ve only lived in Watertown a few years (born and raised in West Cambridge) but its plain to see Watertown deserves more armed robberies. Don’t we all?
And I hear you. I only take lefts when traveling North on Mt Auburn. And only right turns when I travel west on Common St.
We’ve gotta make a decision. Leave tonight or live and die this way.
I live in the area where this occurred and I have to say, your comment is extremely stupid. I hope you do leave. We don’t need idiots like you.
I too live in the neighborhood of the armed robbery — the Cambridge comments are as nutty as the city itself. Only a Cambridge resident would wish violent crimes on people and act as if somehow we deserve it. Thank God all escaped serious injury and God Bless Watertown!
I also live in East Watertown, for over 40 years, but grew up in Auburndale. Unfortunately, this type of crime can occur anywhere, not only in a certain part of a city or town. I’m pretty confident that the Watertown Police will capture this person. I, too, am happy that the store clerk was not harmed. Watertown is a great community!
“about 10 years ago, [Bradbury] city officials and residents decided to become more closed-mouthed about their community. Each time an article appeared, they said, it drew attention to the city and the number of burglaries increased.”(ref: http://articles.latimes.com/1988-03-17/news/mn-2011_1_private-roads//via ISBN 9780374117269, p.130) thus pointing to possible destinations alike the gated cities of warmer climates….
