Tuesday night former New England Patriots quarterback Steve Grogan spoke at an
event for State Rep. Geoff Diehl (R-Whitman), who is running against Senator Elizabeth Warren.Diehl’s campaign sent out the following press release:
“I strongly believe that we need a Senator who will put Massachusetts first and stop all the partisan bickering. Unfortunately, Senator Warren has been more concerned about building a national profile and scoring political points than getting things done for the Commonwealth,” Diehl told the large crowd. “Voters are upset that the incumbent seems more focused on attacking every initiative than trying to find
solutions. I will make the Commonwealth the priority, not party politics.”
“Geoff is one of the good ones. We need him to replace Warren in Washington. He will work for us not the special interest groups,” said Grogan.
The event was held at Miller’s Ale House in Watertown. Another former Patriots player, Fred Smerlas, also joined Grogan at the event in support of Diehl.
“Geoff has a proven track record of delivering. He led the successful statewide ballot question to repeal automatic gas tax hikes saving taxpayers $2 billion. While Senator Warren has written books to put more money in her wallet, Geoff has put more money in every resident’s pocket,” said Smerlas.
“My plan is to be a fighter for the taxpayers of Massachusetts in Washington like Grogan fought on the field to deliver us wins,” said Diehl.
Diehl is the only candidates to sign the “No New Taxes” pledge. As a legislator, Diehl has a perfect record of voting in favor of taxpayers. On the other hand, the National Tax Limitation Committee rates Warren with a ‘zero’ in standing up for taxpayers.
“Unlike Senator Warren, I believe that taxpayers should be able to keep more of their paychecks,” said Diehl.
Attendees got their picture taken with Grogan and Smerlas. In August, Diehl officially kicked off his campaign.
