On Monday morning, the Watertown Fire Department will honor the New York Firefighters lost in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
Monday marks the 16th anniversary of the attacks and destruction of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. The Watertown Fire Department will hold a brief ceremony to remember the 343 FDNY firefighters lost on 9/11.
The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. at Fire Headquarters on Main Street in Watertown Square. All available WFD personnel will gather in front of the fire station and stand at attention as a fire bell is rung and the American Flag is lowered to half staff. There will be a minute of silence, followed by the Firefighters’ Prayer and the bell will ring once again.
