Happy Independence Day! While government offices are closed on the Fourth, most stores and places to eat are open.

Retail stores: Owner’s discretion.

Liquor stores: Open.

Supermarkets: Open.

Convenience stores: Open.

Taverns, Bars: Open.

Banks: Closed.

Stock market: Closed.

Mail: Post offices closed.

Municipal, state, federal offices: Closed.

Library: Closed.

Senior Center: Closed.

Schools: Closed.

Trash/Recycling: Due to the holiday, pickup will be delayed a day for those with Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday pickup this week.

MBTA: Buses will operate on a Sunday schedule, Subways and buses will operate on a Sunday schedule until 2 p.m., when rush-hour levels of service will begin. Fares will not be collected after 9:30 p.m. Bicycles are prohibited on subway lines all day.

The commuter rail will operate on a Saturday schedule for the day. Bicycles will not be allowed on inbound commuter rail trains between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. or on outbound commuter rail trains after 4 p.m.
