A Funeral Mass for Margaret J. “Peggy” (Whyte) Kearsley will be celebrated in St. Jude’s Church, Waltham on Tuesday May 30, 2017 at 10:30 a.m.
Mrs. Kearsley, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Bowes) Whyte, passed away in her home on Wednesday May 24, 2017. She was 74.
Peggy was born and grew up in Watertown. She graduated from Watertown High School, class of 1960. She even went to the Watertown High Prom with her late husband Wayne. Peggy taught all kinds of dancing; she had a studio in Watertown Square. She was the secretary of the Dance Teachers Club of Boston. She was always involved in her St. Jude’s Church, singing in the choir and serving on committees. She had an active life with her late husband Wayne (former Commandant) with the Watertown Yacht Club. Peggy worked part time at Watertown Town Hall.
Peggy’s biggest joy in life, was spending time with her four grandchildren, Stephanie, David, Kyle, and Aleah.
“Miss Peggy” as she was known to her adoring students, taught dance to Bedford children for more than a decade in the 1980 and 1990’s. The encouragement that she would give the youngest three year old dancers prior to each recital, reassuring words and a smile, to send them onto the big stage. Peggy always made some of the dancer’s costume accessories by hand, putting the same time and care into each piece that she put into her instruction and support of her students. As a part of many children’s lives, Peggy will live on in happy memories of her students.
She was the beloved wife of the late Wayne M. Kearsley. Devoted mother of David W. & his fiancé Jessica Dooley of Manchester, NH and Greg A. & his wife Karen of Waltham. Loving grandmother of Stephanie, David, Kyle & Aleah Kearsley. Dear sister of Joan Roy, John Whyte II, Catherine Collins, Betty Ferrin, the late Mary Lenaghan & William Whyte.
