The Watertown Recreation Department has plenty of activities for children of all ages, featuring Cops & Rec programs, dodgeball, yoga and ski boarding.

Cops & Rec Coed Dodgeball Program
Who: Boys and Girls Grades 6 -8
When: Wednesdays, November 16 – February 8, 2017 (Meets once a week for 10 weeks) No Class: 11/23 ,12/28
Time: 2:30-4 p.m.
Where: Middle School Small Gymnasium
Fee: $25.00 Residents
The first week of this program will consist of pick-up games and then the teams will be selected. The teams will be made up of boys and girls from different grades. We will schedule games each week for each team. The focus of the program is to provide a fun, positive atmosphere while teaching the game of Dodgeball and the excitement of being a part of a team.

Cops & Rec Middle School Floor Hockey
Who: Grades 6 -8
When: Fridays, November 18, – February 3, 2017 (Meets once a week for 10 weeks) No Class: 11/25,12/30
Time: 2:30-4 p.m.
Where: Middle School Small Gymnasium
Fee: $25.00 Residents
This program will consist of drills, scrimmage and games. Consistent teams will be selected for a tournament league format. After the teams are made, a schedule of games will be played beginning the following week. The focus of the program is to provide a fun, positive atmosphere while teaching the sport of floor hockey and the excitement of being a part of a team.

December Vacation Program
Who: Grades 1 – 8
When: Tuesday – Friday, December 27 – December 30, 2016
Time: Early Drop-Off: 7:30-8:45 a.m. (optional)
Program Hours: 8:45-2:30 p.m.
Extended Day: 2:30-5:30 p.m. (optional)
Where: Watertown Middle School
Fee: Regular Hours $80.00 Resident $110.00 Non-Resident, Early Drop-Off $25.00 optional, Extended Day $55.00 optional
Children will be divided into groups by grades at the start of the program. They will participate in activities such as basketball, whiffle ball, floor hockey and indoor soccer, etc. In addition, there will be arts and crafts, board games, movies and various special events. Participants should bring a bag lunch, snack and drink.

Middle School Fun and Game Night
Who: Girls and Boys Grades 6 – 8, Watertown Residents Only
When: Friday Nights, November 18, 2016 – April 7, 2017. No programs 11/25, 12/9, 12/23 12/30, 2/3, 2/24, 3/24 (Meets once a week for 18 weeks)
Time: 6:30-9 p.m.
Where: Watertown Middle School Gymnasium
Fee: No fee, but registration is required
Students will have the opportunity to use the gym for a variety of sports and games such as basketball, volleyball, floor hockey etc. On occasion we will invite outside vendors to come in to offer more variety to all students. The objective is to give students the chance to work together to organize and initiate games under the supervision of the recreation staff in a safe and positive environment.
Trampoline Dodge Ball
Who: Girls and Boys, Grades: 3 – 12
When: Tuesday Evenings, November 22, 2016 – January 24, 2017 (Meets for 1 hour once a week for 8 week program). No Class: 12/27
Time: Grades 3-5: 6-7 p.m., Grades 6-8: 6-7 p.m., Grades 9-12: 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Fee: $50.00 Residents Only
Launch is offering a safe, reliable and affordable facility for a dodge ball program on Tuesday nights. Teams will consist of six members with the number of teams determined by enrollment. Games are played for the first seven weeks and on the eighth week, we will have playoffs and a championship game. Yoga at Artemis Studio
Who: Grades: 5 – 8
When: Tuesdays, November 1 – December 20 (Meets once a week for 8 weeks)

Younger and older kids will enjoy learning the fundamentals of yoga in a fun and engaging class that is both active and calm. Students will strengthen muscles, build flexibility and challenge themselves with new skills both individually and as a cooperative group. This is an opportunity to explore and learn in a supportive, fun environment and at a brand new facility, Artemis Yoga, in East Watertown. Everyone can practice yoga – no particular fitness level or experience required and class is tailored by age group. See you in class!

Wachusett Mountain Ski-Board Program
Who: Grades 6 – 12
When: Saturday Evenings, January 7 – February 11, 2017 (Meets once a week for 6 weeks)
Time: 4-11 p.m.
Where: Bus leaves Watertown High School parking lot at 4:00pm, SHARP
Fee: Register online with Wachusett Mountain on their website www.wachusett.com/schoolgroup for lift ticket, equipment and lessons. Enter School Group Code: WREC. Select Season Pass or Lift Badge

This program is designed to provide middle and high school students with a fun and safe atmosphere to learn elements of skiing or boarding or to improve their skills. All participants must wear helmets while skiing or boarding. Space is limited on the bus provided by the recreation department. Please register early. All participants’ parents must register online with Wachusett Mountain. Please register for the transportation with Watertown Recreation.
