The Watertown boys soccer team is back in the MIAA State Tournament after a one-year hiatus and they will play their first round match at home.
The Raiders finished strong down the stretch to end the year with a 9-7-2 record and they got the eighth seed in the Div. 3 North Section tournament. They will host ninth seed North Reading (9-7-2) on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. at Victory Field.
The winner of that match takes on top-seeded Burke on Monday, Nov. 7 at 5 p.m. at Saunders Field in South Boston.
Cross Country
Watertown High School had two outstanding performances at the Middlesex League, held on Halloween at Woburn Country Club.
Junior Emily Koufos finished fourth at the League Meet with a time of 15:09.04, just over 7 seconds behind the winner.
On the boys’ side, senior James Piccirilli came in sixth place with a time of 12:40.60.
The girls finished ninth in the team standings at the Middlesex League Meet, and the boys finished in 11th placed.
After the MSTCA Coaches Invitational on Nov. 5, the Raiders will compete in the MIAA Eastern State Championship on Nov. 12. Both meets will be in Wrentham. The All-State Finals are on Nov. 19 in Gardner.
