Two first half Watertown touchdowns established a first half lead at Victory Field, and the Raiders held on for the 14-12 win over Melrose, Friday night.
Watertown bounced back after an overtime loss last week to win the Middlesex League clash.
Senior quarterback Deon Smith ran for a 22-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
Melrose scored a touchdown in the second quarter but missed the extra point. Then Raiders’ senior running back Vasken Kebabjian ran in from five yards out to make it 14-6.
Melrose scored the only points in the second half on a fourth-quarter touchdown. They went for two, but failed, and Watertown came away with the win.
The Raiders improved to 3-1 and 1-1 in the Middlesex League. Watertown heads to Burlington next Friday for another league matchup.
