The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
July 11, 12:10 a.m.: An officer driving near Bemis Park spotted two people he recognized from previous incidents and noticed the woman acting suspiciously. She was standing in front of Bemis Market and then crouched behind a car and appeared to be attempting to hide from the officer. At the same time a car alarm went off. The woman was seen walking quickly away from the vehicle. Police stopped her and when they asked why she was hiding she said, “I didn’t want to get in trouble.” Inside her open handbag, the officer saw multiple cell phones and a portable GPS device. Police also stopped her male companion, and discovered he had a bag containing a number of women’s clothing items with tags still on (including Under Armor sports bras and Victoria’s Secret underwear) cell phone chargers, a flashlight, a screwdriver and wire cutters. Police also found illegal drugs on the woman when they searched her. The 39-year-old Watertown woman was arrested on four counts of receiving stolen property over $250, five counts of receiving stolen property under $250, one count of possession of a burglarious instrument, one count of possession of a Class B drug and two counts of possession of Class E drugs. The 45-year-old Brockton man was arrested on four counts of receiving stolen property over $250, one count of receiving stolen property under $250 and one count of possession of burglarious instruments.
July 11, 7 a.m.: Police were informed that a man working in Watertown was wanted on a probation warrant. They confirmed he worked at UPS on Arlington Street and arrested the 31-year-old Marlborough man on the warrant from Marlborough District Court for the probation violation.
July 14, 2:10 p.m.: Police spotted a man they knew was wanted on warrants walking through Watertown Square. They confirmed the warrants and placed the 30-year-old Watertown man under arrest on one warrant from Waltham District Court for motor vehicle related infractions and a second warrant from Framingham District Court for driving with a suspended license.
July 14, 6:30 p.m.: A man who police knew was wanted on warrants was observed on Galen Street. The man was stopped and police confirmed he had a warrant. The 25-year-old Boston man was arrested on one warrant from Boston District Court for two counts of ID fraud, two counts of credit card fraud, two counts of forgery and one count of receiving a stolen credit card; and a second warrant from Brighton District Court for ID fraud, receiving stolen property over $250, forgery and larceny over $250.
July 17, 1:35 p.m.: A woman tried to hide numerous items in her carriage at Target and attempted to leave without paying. The total amount in her cart was $149. Store security stopped her and the 47-year-old woman from Cambridge was arrested on a charge of shoplifting over $100.
Incidents
July 13, 1:05 p.m.: A Spring Street resident reported that someone had stolen a hose and storage wheel from the apartment building where she lives. It was taken sometime between July 12 and 13.
July 14, 2:15 p.m.: A air conditioner recharging machine went missing from Monro Muffler on Arsenal Street. The machine was last seen in the garage bay on June 1. It is worth $3,100. Police are investigating.
