The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
March 21, 4:40 p.m.: A man was stopped at Target after he was seen taking a number of items and hid them in his pants and his jacket. He had a total of $158.46. The 20-year-old Watertown man was arrested on charges of shoplifting over $100 by concealment.
March 22, 9:16 p.m.: Watertown Police went to Edgecliff Road to serve a warrant from Waltham District Court for intimidating a witness, assault, threat to commit a crime and harassment. The man was 49-year-old Watertown man was arrested on the warrant.
March 23, 10 p.m.: A Watertown man was wanted on two default warrants from Waltham District Court. Police served the warrant on Fairview Avenue. The 41-year-old Watertown man was arrested on the warrants.
March 24, 11 a.m.: A woman came to the Watertown Police Station to surrender herself after learning she had two warrants for her arrest. The 34-year-old Burlington woman was arrested on two warrants – one from Framingham District Court for traffic offenses; and one from Waltham District Court for two counts of breaking and entering and one count of larceny over $250 and one count of larceny from a building.
March 25, 1:30 p.m.: The Watertown man arrested on March 23 on a warrant was due to be arraigned in court in Waltham but he left before his hearing without permission. A warrant was issued and Watertown Police tracked him down at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. He was arrested again.
March 26, 3:05 a.m.: An officer patrolling on Mt. Auburn Street heard a loud bang and a the sound of glass shattering. A vehicle had backed up into a pole, which fell and struck a window at Dyer Liquors, breaking the glass. The office stopped the vehicle which hit the pole in the municipal parking lot behind CVS in Watertown Square. He detected an odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath and field sobriety tests were given. The 28-year-old Watertown man was arrested on charges of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to stop.
March 26, 3:10 p.m.: A man was spotted in Target putting merchandise inside bags which already had some items he had paid for. The man left the store without paying. He had $70.34 worth of clothes, electronics, home goods and baby items. The 33-year-old Waltham man was arrested on a charge of shoplifting by concealment – a third offense.
Incidents
March 23, 11:36 p.m.: A woman left her 2005 Toyota Camry parked on Arsenal Street near Irving Street at about 8:45 p.m., but when she came back at 11:30 p.m. it was gone. Police are investigating.
March 24, 4:05 p.m.: A woman parked her vehicle on Morse Street at about 3:30 p.m. and when she came back someone had spray painted a patch about 2 feet by 6 inches.
March 25, 8:45 p.m.: Firefighters and Police responded to a fire on Desmond Avenue after a resident reported seeing black smoke coming from the home. The home was not occupied and was under renovation. The small fire was doused. Fire officials determined the fire was caused by spontaneous combustion of paint fumes. There were no injuries.
