Super Tuesday was good for Watertown candidates. Four won their election to represent their party’s state committee, including two with contested races.
Watertown Democrat Steve Owens won his race against Boston’s David Kazis with nearly 63 percent of the vote. Owens won 14,163 to 8,362.
Republican Steve Aylward of Watertown received 65 percent of the vote and defeated Neil Edward St. Clair of Boston 4,449 to 2,395.
Watertown’s Deborah Dugan ran unopposed for the Republican State Committeewoman, and won the seat with 5,080 votes. Tina Poindexter won her race for Democratic State Committeewoman. She ran unopposed and got 20,815 votes.
Big Local Support
Both Owens and Aylward won Watertown by wide margins.
While Kazis won the Boston vote by nearly 2,600 votes, Owens’ advantage in Watertown was more than 5,200. Owens also won Belmont handily, receiving nearly 3,100 more votes than his opponent.
Aylward narrowly lost to St. Clair in Boston, where he lost by just seven votes. However, in Watertown Aylward got nearly 1,400 votes and Belmont he had nearly a 2-to-1 advantage.
