A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday Feb. 12, 2016 in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown for Mary T. (Connolly) Lyons.
Mrs. Lyons was the daughter of the late Stephen J. Connolly of Galway Island, Ireland and Margaret M. (O’Brien) Connolly of Roscommon County, Ireland. Mary passed away in Lexington on Monday, Feb. 8, 2016. She was 77.
Mary grew up in Watertown went to elementary and High School at St. Patrick’s in Watertown. She graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 1956. Married in 1961 to James “Jim” Lyons, she and
Jim then lived in Watertown, raising four children. Mary was involved with Saint Patrick’s Parish sodality and teaching CCD. She was a member of the young adults catholic organization, Chi Ro Club. They would have meetings, dances, and trips as part of the Chi Ro club. It was at a Chi Ro dance where Mary and Jim would meet. Mary worked as a manager, supervisor of lunches for the elderly with the West Suburban Elder Care. Her real passion was raising and taking care of her family in their home in Watertown.
She was the beloved wife of James J. Lyons. Devoted mother of James J. Lyons and his wife Shelia of St. Petersburg, Fla., Paulette M. Bell and her husband Steve of Winchester, the late Andrea J. Lawson & her husband James P. of Billerica, and Barry E. Lyons and his wife Christine N of Northborough. Loving grandmother of Kayla Bell, Kaleigh, James, Michael Lawson, Nicholas, Joseph & Thomas Lyons. Sister of John S. Connolly & aunt of Stephen J. Connolly.
Funeral from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St. Watertown on Friday Feb. 12, 2016 at 8 a.m., followed by Funeral Mass in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown at 9:00 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m.
Interment at Ridgelawn Cemetery.
