The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
Jan. 16, 12:15 p.m.: Target security saw a man put items under his shirt, and when security officers approached he put them back. When they search him, however, they found a Garmin dashboard GPS on him worth $199. Police also found he had a warrant in his name. The 38-year-old homeless man was arrested for shoplifting and a warrant from Boston Municipal Court for a probation violation.
Jan. 16, 12:24 p.m.: Police were called to Baptist Walk in Watertown Square after a man refused to move his car. A woman mistakenly parked in an illegal spot, and she had a sick child in her car. A man came and parked behind her, and when she asked, the man refused to move. When police arrived they asked the man to move, and he began yelling at the officer and still would not move his vehicle. A tow truck was called to tow the vehicle, but when it arrived, the man stood in the way so his vehicle could not be towed. Police arrested the 30-year-old Waltham man on a charge of disorderly conduct.
Jan. 17, 5:04 a.m.: A driver called police after seeing woman asleep behind the wheel of her vehicle at a green light at Mt. Auburn and Main streets. When an officer arrived, he spotted a vehicle make a right from Mt. Auburn Street onto Main Street. Then he saw the vehicle swerving and go over the center line. The vehicle was stopped on Chester Street. An odor alcohol was detected on the driver’s breath. The 43-year-old Watertown woman was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and marked lanes violation.
Jan. 17, 9:42 a.m.: Police were alerted that a woman’s court appointed GPS locator was not charged, so they served a warrant. The 28-year-old Brockton woman was arrested on the probation warrant.
Incidents
Jan. 11, 10:15 a.m.: An employee at the Atrium School discovered someone had spray painted tags on the east side of the school.
Jan. 11, 4:34 p.m.: A Morrison Road resident discovered someone tried to break into the rear entrance of his home. He found fresh damage to the rear door and door jam.
Jan. 12, 12:58 p.m.: A man was seen taking Pokemon cards and phone accessories at Target and left the store through the mall entrance. Security followed the man and saw him getting into an older, silver two-door Honda Civic. The items were worth about $80.
Jan. 12, 3:03 p.m.: A resident spotted a man waking down Acton Street and pick up an Amazon Prime package and take out the contents. The man was described as a young African-American male, wearing a red winter hat with a pompom, a red jacket and jeans. The empty package was found on Acton Street.
Jan. 13, 2:56 p.m.: A Morrison Road resident discovered damage to the rear door of the home. Entry was not gained, however.
Jan. 13, 4:53 p.m.: A Gertrude Street resident parked her car on Loomis Avenue side of the home and discovered the driver side door was ajar. The car was rummaged through and loose change was taken. There were no signs of forced entry.
Jan. 13, 4:56 p.m.: A man went into Target and tried on several jackets and tried ot walk out of the store wearing one of the jackets. The 66-year-old Waltham man was stopped and Target security decided not to press charges and handled the incident internally.
Jan. 14, 6:55 p.m.: A vehicle parked on Forest Street wad entered and rummaged through. Nothing was taken and there were no signs of forced entry.
Jan. 16, 8:11 p.m.: A woman was stopped for shoplifting in Target. She was seen walking through the store and putting merchandise in a bag. She attempted to return the items, worth $98.95, for a refund. She was summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting under $100.
