A Funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Belmont-Watertown United Methodist Church for George E. Sutherland.
Mr. Sutherland, son of the late George E. and Nellie (White) Sutherland, was born in Watertown and stayed to become a lifelong resident in the Watertown Community. A retired printer, George lived for his family, he was very active in youth sports programs.
George passed away in Brighton on Saturday, Jan. 9 after a period of declining health. He was 82.
After graduating from High School, George enlisted in the United States Army and served our country from 1953 to 1955. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army with a rank of corporal on February 24, 1955.
Devoted father of Eugene Sutherland and his wife Catherine of Burlington, Linda Noone and her husband Michael of Londonderry NH, Patricia Sampson and her husband Steven of Watertown, Scott Sutherland and his wife Michele of Chelmsford, and Wayne Sutherland and his wife Linda of Watertown. Loving grandfather of 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Loving brother of Francis Sutherland of Granby, Connecticut, the late James Sutherland of Amherst, Katherine Lagoe of Scriba, N.Y., Carol Chase of Watertown, John Sutherland of Tewksbury, Earlene Sutherland of Watertown, William Sutherland of Waltham, and Mary Ciommo of Belmont.
Funeral Service on Thursday, Jan. 14 in the Belmont-Watertown United Methodist Church, 421 Common St., Belmont at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13 at the MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home. Internment will be at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.
