With two goals on Tuesday, Stonehill College field hockey player and WHS alumna Erika Kelly set a new Northeast-10 Conference scoring record.
The senior All-America player’s 92nd goal broke the conference record of 91 goals by UMass-Lowell’s Sammy Macy. The goals came in a 4-3 loss to Merrimack.
A 3-0 win over Mystic Valley at Victory Field earned Watertown a trip to the state tournament.
WHS Girl’s Soccer Team Makes Tourney
Hannah Cook scored the first goal with five minutes left in the first half, and junior captain Sidar Akisik added two more for the Raiders, according to the report on Wicked Local Watertown.
While Coach Kaz Keuchkarian’s team struggled for wins this season, the Watertown earned the postseason berth after finishing at the .500 mark against Div. 3 teams. State tournament pairings will be announced on Monday, Nov. 2.
WHS Boys’ Soccer Season Ends
The Raiders let in three unanswered goals and lost 4-3 to Everett in the regular season finale at Victory Field on Monday.
Watertown finished the year with a 6-11-1 record, and missed out on the postseason for the first time in several years.
Young Soccer Player Gets Assist for Junior Revs
Watertown’s Samuel Deossa had an assist on one of the Junior Revolution U14’s goals in a 4-2 win over Beachside SC at University of Bridgeport last Sunday.
Deossa is on the New England Revolution’s development team. His cross was booted into the back of the net by Luis Blanco of Pawtucket, R.I. in the 18th minute of the game.
The Under-14s traveled down to North Carolina for their annual Winter Showcase this week, where the side took on D.C. United and the New York Red Bulls before facing Georgia United.
