A Revels Christmas in Wales – Friday, Oct. 23, 2015

Your evening’s hosts, Revels directors George Emlen and Patrick Swanson, will deconstruct the process of putting this year’s Welsh Christmas Revels together, from early research through actual site visits, music and text selection, script writing, recording, casting, editing and rehearsing. We promise to keep things cracking with lots of images, photographs, and musical illustrations.

Patrick “Paddy” Swanson, Artistic Director of Revels, Inc., has stage directed dozens of Revels theatrical productions and celebrations and takes the helm once again for our upcoming Christmas Revels Sanders Theatre. George Emlen will be retiring June 30th after more than thirty years as Revels’ music director.

The Poets' Theatre's Producing Artistic Director Ben Evett will perform with the Revels.

Dylan Thomas: A Collaboration with The Poets’ Theatre – Friday, Nov. 20, 2015

Dylan Thomas’s autobiographical work “A Child’s Christmas in Wales” evokes the sights, sounds, smells of his childhood and gives us a rare insight into the world of rotund uncles, quavering aunties, brass-helmeted firemen and the no-good boyos themselves. It was one of the major starting places in our research and serves as a gateway into this year’s Christmas Revels. For this collaboration with The Poets’ Theatre (founded by Dylan Thomas in Boston to perform his masterwork “Under Milkwood” ) we are delighted to present acclaimed actress Georgia Lyman and The Poets’ Theatre’s Producing Artistic Director Ben Evett in an evening devoted to the irascible poet laureate of Wales.

The Poets’ Theatre is dedicated to the spoken word. It celebrates the power of distinctive language and poetry’s unmatched ability to deliver a rich and meaningful cultural experience to its audience. It presents cutting edge contemporary poetic drama, classic texts daringly re-imagined, brilliant translations of the greatest plays from around the world, and events structured around the poetic voice, its cultural ambitions and explorations.
