Watertown Youth Baseball and Softball held their annual banquet on September 15th at the Sons of Italy – an evening filled with awards.
Players who were the age of 12 in the Spring were presented with jackets – 14 boys and 14 girls in all, announced Watertown Youth Baseball and Softball. The AAA Cubs and Majors Brewers were awarded with the league championship trophies.
In addition all players were awarded with knit hats that had the Watertown ‘W’ logo.
The final event and awards for the evening were the Sportsperson of the Year. The Sportsperson of the year is awarded to a player who exhibits respect for rules, teammates, coaches, officials, the other team and self – both as a player and a fan. Qualities for someone who earns this award include playing fair, honesty and integrity. The player is always encouraging to others and brings a positive attitude to the game. The person is enthusiastic, energetic and exhibits leadership skills.
This years winners are: for Baseball, Tim McCall; for Softball, Stella Papadopoulos. Both players wear these traits to a ‘T.’ Our Guest speaker, Dick Berardino, presented both players with the award.
